Burris Orlando Offers Team Members ESOL Classes

ESOL at Burris Logistics

Burris Logistics Orlando introduces “Higher Learning”, a program committed to improve communication and enhance our skills.

In February 2013 we partnered with Orange County Public Schools to create an on-site ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) program for all team members that would like to improve their English skills.

This program is helping our team members increase their understanding of the English language while building their confidence to communicate with their supervisors and fellow team mates.

Here are a few comments from the participants, a warehouse supervisor and the instructor:

Dairo Taborda, participant –This is a very good program because it is helping me to write in English.

Oscar Rodriguez, participant – I am learning how to phrase my sentences better. It is a very good program and is building my confidence to speak more English.

Alba Duque – This is an excellent program that the company is offering. It is very helpful because this is the main language we use at work. It also helps us in our personal lives. Thank you for this opportunity.

Nelly Florez, participant – I’m very grateful that Burris Logistics is helping their team members to improve their communication with the ESOL classes. We all share an excitement to learn more. The instructor is a very special person and an excellent teacher.

Harold Hylton, warehouse supervisor – Team members are putting forth more of an effort to communicate in English instead of having a translator present and I greatly appreciate it.

Ms. Lee, instructor – Students are participating and working well. There is strong participation and an eagerness to do their very best.

In the near future we plan to add Spanish classes to our Higher Learning program.
